Origami Tunic by Love Notions Patterns

Got to do some “self care sewing” this week.  First up was the Origami Tunic by Love Notions Patterns.

I had been eyeing this pattern since it’s release, but was unsure about that rectangular handkerchief hem.  Those sorts of styles really just don’t suit my body type well.  I couldn’t let the pattern go though and kept seeing such lovely photos of it.  When Black Friday arrived I couldn’t resist any longer.  Luckily, once I actually had the pattern in hand and read through it I realized there was a non handkerchief option as well!  This is option I chose to sew.

This is my first experience with an adult pattern from Love Notions, though I have sewn several for my girls.  As always the pattern goes together so easily with the no trim pattern pieces.  For the first time I tried out the layers option and only printed out my size….that was awesome!

This top went together incredibly fast.  The directions were very clear and straight forward.  I used a serger for all the steps except for my sleeve and bottom hems.  I used the most awesome terry knit from a local shop for my top.

The fit is great for me.  I like the length, as it is long enough to cover my rear when I wear it with leggings.  The sleeves cover my wrist and the cowl neck is cozy.  I will mention that if you do the non handkerchief version you won’t want to size down….the size small was a big snug on my hips (38″).  However, hips won’t be an issue with the handkerchief version.

So in conclusion, I am really pleased with how this top came out.  I do think next time I make it I might swing out to a medium from the waist down.  I have worn this top all day today running errands in the cold and it was perfect!

***I was not a tester for this pattern.  I am just a happy customer who paid for and tried out a new pattern!***
