I just finished up testing the new pattern by GYCT. It is a sweet party dress called the Holly and Ivy. I tested the size 4 and 8 for my daughters.
The pattern has many options to chose from. There are 3 sleeve options, 3 neckline options, and two lengths offered in the pattern. There are also directions to use an overskirt on the dress. I made the round neck, long sleeved mid calf version for both girls.
The pattern pieces print out easily and fit together easily. The pattern is marked clearly, making it easy to see your size as you trace or cut the pattern pieces out.
This dress was a very quick sew for me. It took me around an hour or less for each dress. I really thing that this dress would be perfect for beginners to tackle.
For my dresses I used black satin for the bodice and sleeves and used a plaid taffeta for the skirts. The other pattern testers have used a mix of special occasion fabrics and cottons. Both types of fabrics work great for this pattern.
The Holly and Ivy Party Dress will be released on Thurs Nov 6th. She will be offering an introductory price of $6.95 through the 9th. You will be able to find the pattern in both her Etsy and Craftsy pages.
